Upcycling and Art Workshops

Join Cyd Eva and Brianna Mend Klassen of Pattern Nation for this two-hour creative fashion design workshop. we will guide you in bringing new life to old clothing, mending rips and stains, and creating a wearable piece of art with our expert guidance. 

Attend to one workshop to learn some basics and come back for more sessions to dive deeper into your textile reworking practice. We will have a few items of secondhand clothing available to incorporate into your designs, but encourage all participants to bring at least one item of clothing to get the most out of the workshop. 

We will be transforming pre-loved clothing into new creations using various techniques 

such as: Sewing Machine Basics, Textile painting, Embroidery & hand stitching, embellishing with rhinestones, sequins and more, Mending & patchworking

We offer art and upcycling workshops for students of all ages. Taught by Cyd Eva and Brianna Klassen we share our creative expertise to encourage students to express themselves while learning new skills. Currently Cyd is teaching Dress to Express: Upcycling Fashion and Creative Collage as well as Just for Adults pARTy, spring break, pro-d day and summer camp programs for youth at Place Des Arts in Coquitlam BC. Brianna has previously taught at UBC Camps and at the Port Moody Arts Centre and joins Cyd in facilitating our workshop offerings. Pattern Nation has led youth art series with Artstarts BC in the past and recently put together a in school upcycling workshop series for David Branken Elementary School in Surrey.
